EXOTIC HARDWOODS
Blue Star Products is a comprehensive line of Malaysian hardwood finish lumber for interior and exterior building applications. They operate three sawmills and two moulding factories in Peninsular Malaysia. Since 1985, Blue Star has pioneered the development of imported hardwoods for the decking and construction trades in the U.S. They remain the ONLY fully integrated manufacturing and supply source for these products offering more than 50 individual items. They are also the only full-line producer of hardwood decking and related products that is fully certified by an internationally recognized, continuously monitored program that is audited by an independent third party. All timber used to manufacture Blue Star Products, and all our facilities are 100% certified by the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC), an independent organization established in 1998 to develop and operate a credible and affordable certification program for Malaysian forest products. For more information about this program visit: http://www.mtcc.com.my.com

Ipe’ is often the species of choice when it comes to hardwood decking. However, Ipe’ is also utilized in the construction of docks, marinas, boardwalks, and the manufacture of outdoor furniture. Ipe’ decking and accessories are noted for their stability, strength, durability, and inherent resistance to decay, wet conditions and insect infestation. Ipe’ also carries a Class A fire rating, the same rating that is given to steel and concrete. Kiln dried (KD) as opposed to air dried (AD) Ipe’ decking components are stocked and distributed by Hood Distribution – The McQuesten Group. KD Ipe’ reduces the tendency of the material to shrink, warp, cup, or mildew in the dark, damp areas of application. The heartwood is olive brown to black and contrasts dramatically in color to the yellow-gray to gray-brown sapwood. |
