Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, non profit organization established to promote responsible management of the world's forests. www.fsc.org

A resource tool created and managed by the FSC to provide multiple search options for procuring certified materials and protecting the Chain of Custody (CoC) through the construction process. www.fsc-info.org

Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI)

The Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) is a program that is governed by an independent board of directors that insures forests ore being managed in a sustainable manner. www.sfiprogram.org
The Rainforest Alliance The Rainforest Alliance works to encourage better on-the-ground forestry practices by rewarding businesses, communities and governments that meet standards for sustainability. Central to the efforts is the SmartWood program that provides an independent third-party certification process, which assures consumers that the wood products they purchase come from responsibly managed forests, where biodiversity is conserved and local communities are supported. www.rainforest-alliance.org
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a Green Building rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED is one of the prominent rating systems that encompass a group of standards for environmentally sustainable construction. www.usgbc.org
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has developed its Model Green Home Building Guidelines that are quickly emerging as the standard for residential green design and construction. www.nahb.org

California Air Resources Board (CARB) California Air Resources Board (CARB) was established by California's legislature in 1967 to attain and maintain healthy air quality. CARB has established a set of guidelines to regulate the amount of formaldehyde emissions allowed in the construction of products in the state. www.arb.ca.gov
